Many of my clients starting a new business or coaching practice are often feeling overwhelmed. They have studied and researched and the lists of what they feel they must do get so long that eventually they just get stuck. Inertia sets in. And, it all feels impossible. Sound familiar?
You don’t need to do everything you are told. You need to figure out what best serves your business and move forward from there. It’s important to keep things simple.
Overwhelm Busting Process
Start with a mind dump: Just get everything you think you need or want to do out of your mind and onto a list. Don’t worry if it is messy and there is no sense of order. Just get it out of your head and onto paper or in a doc.
Organize and prioritize your list: Likely you will already see things you can set aside until later. You can put these on a second list. And then go through the items and rate them on a scale of 1-10 for how important each is to moving your goals forward. Make a new list with the ones that are a higher priority that you feel you need to get to pretty soon.
Choose your top 3 to start with: Your brain can easily work with three things at a time and not feel overwhelmed.
Break them down into tiny baby steps: And, I mean tiny. It could be as simple as looking up a phone number or researching a business name. The idea here is for you to feel a sense of accomplishment and start a pattern of forward momentum with every baby step you complete.
Choose 3 baby steps to do each day: You can go faster if you want, depending on how much time you have available, but keep your daily goal easy to accomplish.
