When starting anything new it is important to have a vision for where you want to go. Creating a clear picture of your end result will provide focus and motivation along the way. It acts as a compass when decisions or challenges come up and it reminds you why taking this path is so important to you.
When writing a vision:
- Visualize what your ideal business will look like in one year. Look at the details. Where are you working from? Who are you working with? What is your income? How do you feel?
- Think big, but keep it 50% believable.
- Write your vision in the present tense, starting with the words – “I am….”
Keep your vision handy. If it is short enough, post it at your desk. Put it on your calendar to read it at least once a week. Some people like to create vision boards that include pictures and words as a visual reminder. Whatever method works for you, find a way to stay connected with it and refresh it at least twice a year.
